Alicia's Closet: Fostering Community, Strengthening Families

Our vision is a world where every family impacted by foster care has a loving, stable home and the support they need to thrive while navigating unique challenges. 

Our mission is to create a brighter future for families affected by foster care, by building a community of support to provide essential resources and responsive programming.

• Community - We believe a strong community is critical for those impacted by foster care and we are intentional about cultivating a community that encompasses deep relationships and support systems.  Our programs provide much needed connection, community and opportunities to share experiences with others who are navigating a similar journey. 

• Comfort & Normalcy - We believe it is necessary to help children experience comfort and normalcy in order for them to feel secure and loved. Our programs provide opportunities for children to interact with similarly situated peers, have equitable childhood experiences and enjoy a sense of ownership during a very difficult time. 

• Dignity - We believe that dignity is a fundamental human right and required for people to feel valued and respected. We work to provide quality experiences, clothing, accessories and other essential items free of charge to the families that we serve through our programming and free store. 

• Family Preservation/Restoration - We firmly believe in family preservation and restoration whenever possible and work to support reunified and kinship families by building connections, encouraging relationships and providing needed support and resources. 

• Equity - We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live to their full potential and that communities are strengthened when we embrace the power of diversity. We aspire to create a culture of inclusivity where every individual and family feels welcome, celebrated and empowered. 

• Responsiveness - We believe it is essential to listen, actively respond to and advocate for the needs of the community we serve.  

• Love -We believe receiving love is a basic human need and that action is required to show love. We follow the direction found in Colossians 3:12-16  “put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” and we take action so that members of our community know they are loved.
